        Youth Story Teller Program-Sponsored by Final Draft

These magnificent young content creators submitted several great short films. Their projects were so dynamic that the winning student film was screened ahead of the opening night film at Jack Yates School of Communication as well as at the MATCH theater last year. There are no submission fees for young content creators. If your school or youth organization would like to learn more about your participating in this program, please let us know.

Community Collaboration

We are pleased to announce or collaboration with Catholic Charities. Theys join us in working with  Veteran Women Aftercare Initiative, a 501(c)(3) organization, (Houston Chapter), to participate in our Access to Arts & Entertainment Program. Learn more.


Our festival founder and director was invited to participate in the Black Filmmakers Academy’s  Black Filmmakers Summit, a series of interviews and training courses from the entertainment industry. View here.

iHBFF Ambassador, Corey Champagne

Netflix’s Award winning TV mini series, Seven Seconds’ breakout actor, Corey Champagne, who portrayed Kaduece, has come on board as the 2019 International Houston Black Film Festival Ambassador.  Corey Champagne can also be seen in The Originals, Walking Dead. Selma, Red Band Society, and other films. Learn more.


International Houston Black Film Festival has assembled a panel of influential industry judges to read and determine the Semifinalists, Finalists, and winners of this year’s competition.
