Access to Arts & Entertainment Program

We are pleased to announce or collaboration with Catholic Charities. Theys join us in working with  Veteran Women Aftercare Initiative, a 501(c)(3) organization, (Houston Chapter), to participate in our Access to Arts & Entertainment Program.

“Many women veterans who struggle suffer in silence, but thanks to the 2019 International Houston Black Film Festival, they have given a voice to these women and a platform to share their stories. Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston appreciates their support, especially for the women veterans we serve.” Christiana Johns, Marketing Associate, Catholic Charities the Archdiocese of Houston-Galveston

One of the key components to iHBFF’s  Access to Arts & Entertainment Program is VOICE MY STORY, a campaign which allows veteran women to tell their stories through film. Film topics tackle feel-good stories of triumphs from their business start-up to mental illness such as PTSD, society woes, romance, comedy or whatever topic speaks to their whole health, mind, and body.

Several veterans including, the writer, director and producer of the 30 minute short, “Heaven’s Savior” is Tashandra Poullard who has  answered the call for entries.  We are happy to welcome this drama surround human trafficking in the Houston community.
