iHBFF Ambassador, Seven Seconds Breakout Actor, Corey Champagne

Reel Black Awards nominee who was also in consideration for a Golden Globe, actor, director and singer, Corey Champagne, Seven Second’s Kaduece,  has signed on to be the 2019 iHBFF Ambassador.

Corey can be seen in The Originals, Walking Dead. Selma, Red Band Society,  and other films.

Ironically, he’s a gifted singer, actor and writer. His breakout came when he starred as Kadeuce Porter in the Emmy winning Netflix Limited-Series Seven Seconds alongside Regina King and Russell Hornsby.His complex but endearing portrayal of this 3-dimensional character earned him a Black Reel Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series/TV Movie. Corey was dubbed the“Breakout Star” of the series by multiple media writers and featured on news and talk shows and in multiple magazines and news articles. His work has been in several other Film and TV projects including The CW’s supernatural drama The Originals in addition to various theater productions.
Although naturally gifted, Corey credits his formal acting training to the renowned Alliance Theatre starting at age six. While attending Alliance, he
was selected as a Junior Player and won the lead in the play The Case of the Missing Metaphors.

A graduate of North Springs Arts & Science CharterSchool (notable alumni include John Schneider, Raven-Symone & Usher),there Corey immersed himself in multiple facets of the arts including Drama, Chorus, Photography, Broadcasting and Musical Theatre. Also, he was chosen one of select student composers to write & star in a music video for the John Lennon Tour Bus. Passionately determined to be heard, Corey performed every chance he got and became a student of the craft. Notably,he successfully won over the notorious crowd at the World-Renowned Apollo Theatre’s Amateur Night in Harlem, NY. In 2018, Corey debut his directorial attributes directing a short film “The Remote” at the Screening Room ATL.
Corey attended Florida A&M University where he worked with the schools budding Music and Entertainment Industry Studies program before eventually transferring to Georgia State University majoring in Film.

He was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, where his desire to fulfill a career in entertainment took shape. Named after character Corey Baker of the ground breaking ’60s series Julia – it seemed that from birth he was destined for the spotlight.

He divides his time between Atlanta, L.A. and NYC with his Lab-Chow mix Jeremyah.
